Yes, I am a travel agent. Since the age of 7, it was what I knew I was destined for.. I went to travel school when I was 19, and have been in the industry for now over 20 years, and have seen many changes and survived many challenges. I am used to hearing, on a daily basis - 'Travel Agent? They still exist? I thought they had vanished with the internet' ...Well, I am here to tell you that YES, we still exist. I consider myself a young dinosaur, in some ways. It's all about survival of the fittest, and adapting to the ever-changing needs of you -the consumer, the traveler. The internet is a great resource for information, and sometimes does beat my price. But I am a firm believer in the value of the personal touch, and of the importance of dealing with a HUMAN, who cares about YOU, and your vacation. I make a personal investment in ensuring your vacation not only goes as smoothly as possible, but will try to exceed your expectations. I am your advocate!
Here's a recent article from the LA Times, which reaffirms that Travel Agents are relevant, and we really are as busy as ever!

It's not all glitz and glam as it may seem on the outside, there's MUCH behind the scenes that goes on that clients may never know about as I deal with vendors changing hotels, getting the right seat assignments, or airline price increases, rail or airline strikes, inclement weather- hurricanes, volcanoes, tsunamis, political demonstrations, riots, wars, ETC....I don't make a zillion dollars, or a million, or anywhere NEAR that, but it is my passion - to help people fulfill their dreams and to take care of all the details of things that CAN go awry with a vacation.

And of course I am now so blessed to be able to work in the beautiful city of Santa Cruz, so close to the beach! Where I can walk around the vibrant Pacific Ave on my lunch, or take a short drive down to the ocean and watch the surfers! Life is good. =)
